First Saturday Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On
December 10, 1925, the most holy Virgin Mary appeared to Sister
Lucia, and by the Virgin’s side, elevated on a luminous cloud, was a
Child. The most holy Virgin rested her hand on Lucia’s shoulder,
and as she did, she showed Lucia a heart encircled by thorns, which
she was holding in her other hand. At the same time, the Child
said: -
-
"Have
compassion on the Heart of your most holy Mother, covered with
thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and
there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them."
Then
the most holy Virgin Mother said:
-
"Look,
my daughter, at my Heart, surrounded with thorns with which
ungrateful men pierce me at every moment by their blasphemies and
ingratitude. You at least try to console me and say that I promise
to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for
salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive
months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades
of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while
meditating on the fifteen decades of the Rosary, with the intention
of making reparation to me." (Fatima in
Lucia’s Own Words: Sister Lucia’s Memoirs)
-
Note
carefully the requirements for fulfilling the five First Saturday’s
of devotion in reparation to Our Lady:
-
(1)
Confession (may be 8 days before or after First
Saturday) -
(2)
Holy Communion -
(3)
Five Decades of the Holy Rosary -
(4)
Meditation on the Mysteries of the Rosary for 15 minutes *
(See note below.)
-
At
Fatima, Our Lady has given us the perfect peace plan — for
peace in our souls, in our families and in the world. October 13,
2007, will mark the 90th anniversary of the
Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.
-
We urge
you, we beg you and your family to make the First Saturday
devotions, and to recite the family Rosary each day in your home.
This is the reparation Our Lord Jesus Christ desires for those sins
committed against His Mother’s Immaculate Heart. It is this
devotion of Rosary and First Saturday prayer which will provide the
graces each of us so urgently needs to perform our duties of state
in a spirit of penance.
